How We Moderate Reviews

Purpose & Approach

YourChoice exists to raise service standards while protecting fairness, accuracy, and trust. Our moderation process is designed to support honest, first-hand feedback while preventing unfair, misleading, or harmful content.

YourChoice does not exist to protect providers from criticism, but to protect everyone from unfairness.

What We Aim to Protect

Our moderation process prioritizes:

  • The ability for individuals to share real, first-hand experiences
  • Fair treatment of both reviewers and providers
  • Privacy and safety for individuals mentioned in reviews
  • Trust in the integrity and credibility of the platform

What We Approve

Reviews are generally approved when they:

  • Are based on your own first-hand experience
  • Are written as opinions or personal perceptions, not statements of fact
  • Focus on the service received (such as communication, professionalism, timeliness, fairness, or empathy)
  • Use respectful, non-abusive language, even when critical

Critical reviews are welcome when shared responsibly.

What We Don’t Approve

To maintain fairness and accuracy, reviews may be rejected if they include:

  • Allegations of illegal, criminal, or unethical behavior stated as fact
  • Defamatory, misleading, or unverified claims
  • Fabricated, exaggerated, or fictional content
  • Personal attacks, threats, or abusive language
  • Private or identifying information about individuals
  • Second-hand experiences or hearsay
  • Conflicts of interest, including reviews submitted by competitors or employees

Sensitive Reviews & Verification

Reviews involving healthcare providers, educators, caregivers, or other public-facing professionals may receive additional review, particularly when they involve allegations of harm, discrimination, or misconduct.

To protect fairness and privacy, YourChoice may:

  • Hold reviews for moderation
  • Request clarification before publication
  • Decline or reject reviews that do not meet our moderation standards

Our Moderation Principles

  • Reviews are moderated for fairness, not positivity
  • Moderation decisions are made independently and consistently
  • Providers cannot pay to remove, suppress, or alter reviews
  • Decisions are not influenced by popularity, pressure, or threats

Shared Responsibility

Your voice matters, but so does how you use it. By submitting a review on YourChoice, you agree to share your experience honestly, responsibly, and with respect for others. Together, we help create a fairer, more informed community.
